Cookie Policy

How NGCareerPro uses cookies and similar technologies to make the platform work better for you.

Last updated: 1 June 2026

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember your preferences, keep you logged in, and understand how you use the platform so we can improve it.

2. How We Use Cookies

NGCareerPro uses cookies in three categories:

2.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies

These cookies are essential for the platform to function. They cannot be disabled. They include:

  • Session token (careerpro_token) — keeps you logged in during your session
  • CSRF protection — prevents cross-site request forgery attacks
  • Cookie consent preference — remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics cookies

2.2 Analytics Cookies

These cookies help us understand how the platform is being used so we can improve it. They are only set with your consent:

  • Page view tracking — which pages are visited most often
  • Feature usage — which tools students and counsellors use most
  • Session duration — how long users spend on the platform
  • Error tracking — which errors occur and how frequently

Analytics data is aggregated and anonymised — we do not build individual profiles for advertising.

2.3 Preference Cookies

These cookies remember your settings and preferences to improve your experience:

  • Dark/light mode — your display preference
  • Dashboard layout — your preferred view configuration
  • Language preference — if you have selected a specific language

3. Third-Party Cookies

We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies. Our third-party dependencies that may set cookies or store data include:

  • Vercel (frontend hosting) — edge network performance cookies
  • Railway (backend infrastructure) — no user-facing cookies

We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any advertising networks.

4. Cookie Duration

  • Session cookies — deleted when you close your browser
  • Authentication token — expires after 7 days of inactivity
  • Preference cookies — stored for 12 months
  • Consent record — stored for 12 months

5. Managing Cookies

You can manage cookies in the following ways:

  • Browser settings — most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Note: blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from logging in.
  • Our consent banner — when you first visit, you can accept or decline non-essential cookies
  • Contact us — email [email protected] to request data deletion

Instructions for managing cookies in popular browsers:

  • Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies
  • Firefox: Settings → Privacy and Security → Enhanced Tracking Protection
  • Safari: Preferences → Privacy
  • Edge: Settings → Privacy, Search, and Services

6. Local Storage

In addition to cookies, we use browser local storage to save your dashboard state and preferences. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers except where explicitly synced (e.g. user settings).

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy as we add new features or change our technology stack. We will notify you of material changes via the platform.
